Brook Lodge, Wakes Colne, Suffolk
Brook Lodge is one of five detached lodges nestled in the stunning Wakes Hall Estate, at the heart of Colne Valley on the Essex/Suffolk border.
Each lodge boasts a large verandah, which makes an ideal spot for enjoying a morning coffee in the sun as you plan the day’s activities, or whiling away the hours admiring the lovely view on a balmy summer evening. Best of all, every lodge has a fabulous hot tub, a wonderfully luxurious addition that makes your stay just that little bit more sumptuous.
The lodges really are in an perfect location. Situated in rolling English countryside, they provide an idyllic retreat away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Wander around the beautiful grounds, admiring the views and local wildlife and discovering the picturesque woodland. Enjoy a spot of fishing at the stunning lake, which is well-stocked with Carp and Roach.
Located just outside the village, the lodges are within easy reach of a local post office and shop, as well as a friendly local pub set beside the River Colne that serves locally brewed beer.
Another touch of luxury is that various local beauty salons provide a full range of services for lodge guests, and visitors can even arrange for a fully trained chef to create a mouth watering meal for them in the comfort of their own lodge.
Brook Lodge accommodation
The lodge consists of one double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. All accommodation is on the ground floor, and doorways and pathways are wheelchair accessible.
A spacious, furnished decking area – including a hot tub – completes the accommodation, and provides a beautiful setting for really relaxing and enjoying the lovely, tranquil surroundings.
General amenities include: state of the art eco technology, electric heating, an electric hob and oven, a microwave, a fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a washer/dryer.
The lodge boasts two smart TVs and a superb quality sound system, as well as Wi-Fi, so guests will never be short on entertainment no matter what the weather decides to do.
There is ample parking available, and up to two, well-behaved, dogs are welcome.
A travel cot and highchair are available, but please note that cot bedding is not supplied, so guests are advised to bring their own.

The lodges are located conveniently close to a rich variety of activities and sights that all the family can enjoy. Colchester is just 20 minutes away, and has a brilliant zoo and fascinating Roman Castle.
Slightly further afield, the bustling town of Chelmsford has fantastic shopping opportunities, and lots of excellent bars and restaurants for treating yourself after a hard day’s spending. The historic town of Sudbury is also well worth a visit; as the birthplace of Thomas Gainsborough, it offers plenty of interesting information about his life and work. And of course Newmarket, with its world-famous racecourse, is approximately an hour away, which makes for a wonderfully exciting day out.
Golfing enthusiasts are spoilt for choice: Just a 10 minute drive away is the Earls Colne Golf & Country Club, as well as numerous other golf courses located very close by, all boasting lovely, picturesque views.
Colchester is also home to The Wine Company, who have spent an impressive six generations choosing the very best wine. Their regular wine tasting evenings are an absolute must for any wine lover.
