Hollybrook Lodges surrounding area

Hollybrook is a small park that sits midway between York and Thirsk and only a mile from the antique and speciality shops of the Georgian market town of Easingwold. Despite its proximity to such vibrant towns, it is a tranquil, secluded park that provides an idyllic escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

A wealth of activities are on offer in the local area, from boating on the River Ouse to exploring the stunning Dales and moors. The Helmsley & Rievaulx Abbey Walk is a delightful way to view the lovely scenery. A little over six miles on easy terrain, it’s a great day out for the whole family. Slightly closer to home, Upper Dunsforth carr is a 12-hectare reservoir that offers an abundance of walking trails and wildlife habitats. Take the whole day to wander around, or simply select your favourite spot and enjoy a leisurely picnic as you do a little bird watching.

Of course, there is also lots of history to discover. Byland Abbey is an impressive Cistercian abbey that showcases a whole range of historic architecture. The excellent museum also presents numerous archaeological finds from the site which offer interesting insights into the lives of the 200 monks who once lived here. You can also learn about Roman Britain in Aldborough Roman Town in Harrogate. Originally a fort, it eventually became a whole town and is now home to an excellent museum that presents an exceptional collection of artefacts.

Elsewhere, the city of York is just a short drive away. Steeped in ancient history, it simply cannot be missed. It also boasts lots of shops, cafes, pubs and excellent restaurants, for those looking for a spot of nightlife.

Finally, after a busy day exploring, return to the relaxing comfort of your lodge and revel in the peace and quiet.
