Ideal for a romantic getaway or an active family holiday spent discovering the delights of rural Somerset, Kittisford Barton has lots of features to make your stay as comfortable as possible. A large sofa and chairs arranged around the traditional wood burner are perfect for curling up in on chillier evenings or when the weather is typically English. Large outside decking makes a great spot for a coffee on sunny mornings as you plan the day’s activities, or an al fresco cocktail on a balmy summer evening spent basking in the tranquility of the stunning surroundings.

The lodge is comprised of three spacious bedrooms: one double, one twin, and one bunk room. Solid pine beds, with comfortable mattresses and bedding, ensure that guests will sleep well after a busy day spent outside.

The shower and WC are accessed through the main door and are both fully plumbed in, while the shower runs off an independent hot water system and has a fully adjustable head, making sure that your break in the great outdoors is convenient and restful, with all the luxuries of home.

The kitchen has an easy to use butane hob for simple meals, and the wood burning stove is perfect for slow cooked, all-in dishes that warm the soul and are a lovely little addition to the rustic atmosphere. The dining area gives access to a zipped porch, a great way to store muddy wellies and wet coats away from the living space.

Kittisford Barton is located on the Somerset-Devon border, an ideal setting for exploring the rich and varied sights of this stunning region. The lodge is within easy reach of rolling countryside, a spectacular coastline and bustling cities.

Cothay Manor Historic House and Gardens, which dates back to the 14th century, is within walking distance of Kittisford Barton and is set within 12 acres of atmospheric medieval-style grounds on the banks of the river Tone. Wander round the majestic gardens, or discover the historic rooms, such as The Great Hall with its vaulted ceilings and 15th century wall paintings.

Adventurous guests will love the activities and sports on offer in the area. Exeter’s Haldon Forest is home to Go Ape, which has a great Tree Top Adventure – complete with zip-wires, swings, bridges and high ropes – to enjoy. There are a range of courses for all abilities, so it makes for a wonderful, family day out in the beautiful forest.

The famous safari park at Longleat is an absolute must-visit, with an incredible range of animals to see from across the world. Drive through the enclosure and watch in awe as curious monkeys come over to investigate.

Slightly further afield, the Iron Age hill fort that looks out over Otter Valley, and of course the majestic Cheddar Gorge, are impressive, historic sights to see.

For a livelier day, the vibrant city of Exeter has excellent shops, tea rooms, bars and restaurants to enjoy, all amidst the stunning architecture of the historic town. Or head to Weston-super-Mare for a traditional day at the seaside, including a pier, museums, donkey rides and plenty of ice-cream, all laid out along a sweeping stretch of sand.
