Meadow’s End Lodges surrounding area

Despite their secluded location, the lodges are just a 15 minute walk from the vibrant village of Cartmel. Famous for its race meetings, sticky toffee pudding and monthly food markets, it also offers plenty of outdoor pursuits, scenic coastal walks and leisurely cruises on Lake Windermere and Coniston.

Elsewhere, the incredible views from Helm Crag make the lengthy, 9 mile climb all the more worthwhile. For a glimpse into the history of the area, Carlisle Castle is a real must-see. Founded in 1092, it boasts an impressive guestbook, and once even housed Mary Queen of Scots (as a prisoner!). Wordsworth House is also well worth a visit. You can meet the servants, help them with their daily jobs and cook historic goodies in the working Georgian kitchen, getting a real sense of life in the childhood home of the poet who loved this area so very much.

Slightly further afield, Morecambe Beach is a wonderful, quaint seaside destination, with loads of traditional activities and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.

The Lake District is certainly one of the most beautiful area of England, and Meadow’s End Lodges couldn’t be better equipped or better located as a base for exploring this wonderful region.
