Description

Shepherds Hut, Lower Chapeltown, East Devon

Shepherd’s Hut is a delightfully quirky lodge, with separate sleeping accommodation and living area. It is situated in a secluded spot of the owners’ 300-acre dairy farm. Complete with plenty of luxurious features and even its own hot tub, it is an idyllic place for a romantic rural retreat in this stunning part of Devon.

Shepherds Hut accommodation

The lodge consists of a large, open plan living area. There is a comfortable leather sofa, rustic table and benches, and a range-style cooker and hob.

There is a wet room with a shower and WC, as well as a further, separate WC, accessed via the private decked area behind the lodge itself.

General amenities include: a fridge/freezer and microwave. The living area has a wall-mounted TV with a DVD player, and a Wi-Fi connection. So guests will never be short on entertainment, no matter what the weather decides to do.

Shepherds Hut provides the sleeping area. There is a double bed, traditional woodburner (logs included) and tea/coffee making facilities.

Connecting the two lodges is an enclosed decked area, complete with furniture, BBQ and fabulous sunken hot tub. Perfectly secluded, the outside space is a great spot for whiling away long summer evenings, relaxing in the hot tub with a cocktail or two and basking in the tranquility of the lovely surroundings.

There is also a small separate paddock ideal for ball games or exercising the dog.

There is secure parking with space for two cars. Bed linen, towels, gas, electricity, heating and Wi-Fi are all included in the rent. Sorry, no smoking and no babes in arms or children. One, well-behaved, dog is welcome, charged at £20 per dog for up to 7 nights, £40 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20 for every week/part week thereafter.

The nearest pub is just a mile away, and the nearest shop is three miles.

Shepherds Hut surrounding area

Aside from all the lovely walks available right on the doorstep of your lodge, the surrounding area has a variety of things to see and do. Close by is the picturesque town of Tiverton, with lots of local shops and a pretty canal to wander along. You can even hire a barge for the day. Visit the thatched inn at Bickleigh for a bite to eat or a drink, or have a look round Bickleigh Castle, both situated on the banks of the River Exe.

Slightly further afield is the vibrant cathedral city of Exeter, with a variety of shops, tearooms, bars and excellent restaurants. As well as impressive, historic architecture to admire.

The whole county is rural and green. With a selection of Areas of Outstanding NAtural Beauty and two UNESCO World Heritage Sites to discover, it offers incredible sights and rolling English countryside. Take in the spectacular cliffs of the coastline, or the breathtaking skies of Dartmoor. And don’t forget to enjoy a traditional cream tea as you rest your weary feet!

Then return to the seclusion of Shepherds Hut, have a soak in the hot tub, and luxuriate in the beautiful views.
