Description

The Log Cabin, Kilninver, near Oban, Scotland

This traditional log cabin is set in a totally secluded spot, four miles from the coastal village of Kilninver. There are beautiful views from every side of The Log Cabin, but particularly from the front verandah area.

Immediately outside the cabin, there is a pond where native birds can be seen gathering and beyond that, picturesque mountain views extend far into the distance. In fact there is approximately 3000 acres of open countryside just waiting to be explored.

The nearest town with facilities is Oban, which is approximately 8 miles away, so the cabin and its setting is most suited to those who enjoy walking, climbing, fishing and photography or just simply seeking total peace and quiet!

The Log Cabin Facilities

Inside, the cabin is almost completely open plan, but tastefully laid out into three areas: kitchen, sitting area and sleeping area, which makes the best use of the space inside. There is also a separate shower room with toilet and hand basin.

Rent for The Log Cabin includes all fuel (electricity and wood for the log-burning stove), bed linen and towels. For cosy evenings in there is a TV with Freeview and a small stock of games and books.

Living space is increased by making the best use of the decked verandah area and its seating, a perfect spot to enjoy a meal or simply to relax and take in the views. Children are welcome as guests, but must be under strict supervision due to the proximity of open water.

NB. Sorry, the Log Cabin has a no pets and no smoking policy.

The Log Cabin Surrounding Area
Whilst there is plenty to explore in the immediate area, at least one visit to the typically-Scottish town of Oban is a must. As well as an abundance of unique shops and galleries, there are pubs and restaurants to suit all tastes (and budgets!)

There are plenty of interesting attractions in and around the town, including the Oban Distillery, the Sea Life Centre at Loch Creran, an 18-Hole Golf Course and Pony Trekking.

Oban is also the starting point for numerous sightseeing boat trips out to some of the adjacent Scottish Isles such as Seil, Lismouth, Mull and Iona. Along with these there are sea-fishing expeditions and more adventurous ones, including diving trips to swim with Porpoise.
