It would be more than possible to enjoy a holiday without leaving the park at all due to the excellent facilities available on site. However, most travel to the Lake District to admire the scenery, visit new places and try new experiences.

Just 2 miles from the lodge is the most well-known lake of all, Lake Windermere. Here there are a whole variety of walking, horse riding, cycling and water activities to be involved in. For less energetic visitors, there are sightseeing boat trips and a scenic steam railway trip to enjoy. Just a mile further down the road, is the town of Bowness, home to the world-famous Beatrix Potter Museum, where her tiny characters are brought to life.

Lake cruises can be taken from Bowness to the pretty town of Ambleside, which the lodge was named after. Also close by is the Brockhole Lake District Visitor Centre, useful for tourist information, but made much more popular with older children due to its ‘Treetop Trek’, which is like an aerial assault course!
